Why isn't my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 prompting me to enter my password to unlock my phone?

AC Question

I just bought a new phone today, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and I created a fingerprint (and backup) password. However, it isn't prompting me to unlock it with my fingerprint or my password when I try to unlock it, it just tells me to swipe to unlock, as if it didn't have a password set. I even tried switching to the pattern preset, and it still didn't ask for it. It only asked for the password once, after I cleared out a bunch of notifications from the home screen. Does anyone know why this is happening or have a solution for it? Thanks in advance.
