Why don't my notifications/inbox clear after reading emails?

Hello,

I am using note 5 with 365 with the native Samsung email app.
when getting a new email, I an see the email notification.
after reading the email on my laptop. the email in the app is being marked as read, but I still see the new email notification.

Is there a way t remove the notification automatically in case email is being read (somewhere else)?

I know this is not related to Note 5 only, as other with S7 and S5... are also facing the same issue.

Welcome to Android Central! How long are you waiting to see if the notification icon goes away? Maybe you have to wait 15-20 minutes or so.
