Note 5 AT&T - Randomly "mutes" during calls

When I call my wife on her iPhone 6, my phone randomly mutes during the conversation. The phone will go silent sometimes and it'll last for about 5-10 seconds and then resume. Most times it's when I use the headset. Last night I had a case where I was on speaker with a tmobile rep and it muted me for a good 20 seconds. I could not hear them, but they could hear me. I'm on Android 6.0.1.

I have not setup wi-fi calling yet. I just checked and i still have to do the setup.

I had a problem where people on the other end of Bluetooth hands free calling would randomly not hear me. I found Bluetooth Phonebook and installed it Ann it fixed my problem. There is a free trial for this app, but it is well worth the cost of the app to fix the Bluetooth. I think it is a problem of protocols between the two devices.
