Has anyone experienced a massive battery drop? My N5 went from 34% to 1% in less than 15 seconds. It's like the battery needs to be calibrated. It has done this a few times.

I have had some decent battery drops lately; no where near the extent of yours, but some larger than normal ones, yes. AT&T Note 5 for me.

It's possible that the system isn't correctly reporting the battery level throughout the day and "catching up" when the battery goes dead. If it's software, a FDR should probably fix it. But I think I'd be looking more at a battery or power system failure since you said that this has happened several times. If you still have warranty coverage on the phone, I'd use it.

You can try recalibrating the battery sensor software by charging up to 100%, using it normally until it shuts off automatically from low battery, then charging back up to 100% again. Do this cycle 2-3 times if it doesn't correct after the first time. If it persists, then the battery itself might be failing. Sudden drops like that suggest battery dendrite formation, which is irreversible.

I am seeing some pretty hefty battery drops. I had my phone charged up before I went to bed and I woke up with 29%. Anyone have any ideas why this dropped so much?

It's a big reason why am trading it in. Am done with having to charge during the day. All my previous Notes had decent battery life. Loved Note 7. Miss that phone. Trying iOS and Verizon giving me 529 trade in value.

My Note 5 has always been the best phone that I hate. I frequently have these battery drainage issues as well. I've tried to get in the habit of closing all apps when I am done using the phone for awhile but I often forget and the phone can go from 50% to 15% easily in an hour or two, it just happened this morning again.

For me, it's an app causing the problem and always has been. One thing I have always liked my iPhone for was that it never had this battery problem no matter what iPhone model I have owned. I still prefer my S7 Edge and keep thinking I'll put my Note 5 back in the box and put it's sim back into my Note 4 or Note Edge.

I was struggling with battery life on my Verizon version, but I ran GSAM for a bit and found that it was Facebook/Messenger/Pages Manager that were the culprits. About 35-40% of my battery use was between those three Apps. I cleared them and restarted the phone and it seems to be a bit better now, but I was at about 10% per hour in standby and 1/2 of that was the three FB apps...
