Has anyone been able to get anything from Samsung over and above the full refund?

Either discretionary compensation, or maybe a similar discount from the cost of an S8 or N8 like the people in Korea get?

I got a free S7 Edge on a lease while the 'second' Note 7 came along, 50 dollars in credit (25 for the trouble, 25 for keeping with the Samsung family of phones) and a year of Netflix with my new S7 Edge after the last Note was finally recalled. But that was 'normal' for T-Mobile customers. Unless you were one of the unlucky ones to actually have had a fire incident BEFORE the recall notice, I don't see why they should give you anything more.

You won't be getting a S8 discount so I definitely wouldn't hold your breath.

Forecasts seem to differ with that assessment. But, if you'd only get the device if Samsung offers you a discount, then yeah, maybe this time isn't your time to buy it in the US, at least. Although I'm sure they'll have some sort of promotions going on for early adopters (free VRs, Samsung store credit, maybe Netflix on T-Mo, etc.).
