It was just announced so I don't believe any more details have been released.

Ahh okay got it. I just came from the Apple world with my transition to the (amazing) Samsung Note 3.. Apple usually releases their release date at their big conference so I'm not quite used to how Samsung does it yet.. I'll wait patiently

Sometimes that's just how it is. They'll probably give a release date soon.

Apple does it once a year, Android OEMs usually have their own conferences and attend things like CES throughout the year

I'd imagine more than the current tablets since the specs are better...

Okay great I was going to buy the 2014 note so I have $599 to spare so if its a little over that then I'm okay I was just hoping Samsung wouldn't overprice their device again.

A reliable source tweeted the price for all tablets.
Here is the one I wanted:
    Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, Wi-Fi: 749 ($749?)

$749 sounds about right considering the Note 10.1 was about $649..

I hope the release date is around my birthday, (end of February) this would make a really nice present.

Well they did mention Q1 as the availability date, the tablets themselves are finalized looks like the software is not far off either. I am hoping they give an actual date in the next few weeks.

Couldn't you still buy it for yourself if it's released before?

It doesn't really matter when, I'll obtain it regardless. Just would be nice to have it around the actual date.

I'm an Apple Mac user (Graphic Designer for over 20 years so it's kind of self explanatory) and the big difference is, Apple leaves all the hype and speculation to do the "early hype" letting people imagine whatever they want from leaks and such and doesn't announce ANYTHING until they have it ready. This way no one can accuse them of missing specs or ship dates. Until they have locked in dates of arrival, they don't even announce the existence of a product.

ALL the other electronics manufacturers feel they have to generate as much hype as the can to compete and they have SO many things going on at one time, they don't release firm dates because a lot of the time they release info to cut off rumors or to stall the market from their competitors so people will hopefully hold out for theirs. By saying "Q1" they give themselves a time frame like your cable repair guy, wide enough even a blind man with a crossbow could hit. They usually wait until whatever product is closest to the one they want to release starts to stagnate or stall, in this case the 10.1 2014, and then announce it's "new and improved" version to try and excite the market again and keep people from going to competitors.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the price is going to be a lot higher than we expect. The 4G ones will probably be $999 or $949 with the others being in the $800-$900 range.
