    Default galaxy note with at&t

hi. i am thinking of buying galaxy note from either korea or uk. but im worried because they all seem to have different compatibility. im planning to use the "unlocked" note with at&t postpaid plan without 2 year contract which is possible. is there a specific place where i should order this or can i just buy one from korea and get it unlocked from somewhere and be able to use it with at&t postpaid plan? thanks in advance

You are using on ATT with a go plan correct? How did you do that? Just go and get the phone at best buy and then pop the SIM card in? So you have voice and hspa data on ATT? Unlimited voice and data for 50?

Yup go phone. I bought my sim at the AT&T store, popped it in and put the APN settings.

They APN can be found on the 3rd page of the "Where to buy Galaxy Note for US" thread.

It is showing HSPA but so far my speeds have been terrible. I wonder if they are throttled. I need to do more speed tests.

Here are some speed tests. They aren't that good. I wonder if its because I'm using a prepaid account.

Who covers the warranty for the note since it isn't from the US? Would Samsung UK honor the 1 yr or whatever factory warranty is?

More like EDGE speeds. How much is adding a line to your account? I thought it is like 10 a month? With that and data is that not comparable to a $50 a month go plan? I guess it is a 2 year contract.

Anyone using their Note on this type of plan and are the speeds better?

I'm seeing you guys are having slow data speeds. Will I have the same since I'm already on a contract with a data plan?

I popped an AT&T SIM card from a non-smartphone I had on my family plan. The data works, 3G and Hsdpa+ but the speeds suck! Does anyone know how to modify the settings, or the account plan for the phone to get faster speeds? The WiFi rocks and for the most part is what I use, but when out and about, would be nice to have a faster network speed option.

Dude I'm just down 1-80 in Iowa City, IA thinking of importing a Galaxy Note to use on AT&T. I've read up on this site but haven't found a step-by-step guide to making it work.

I have an iphone 4 on contract with AT&T, I'm wondering how I get a SIM card and then how I make it work on 3G after I would put it into a Note I imported.

    Cheers,
    RG

Okay, I looked online and ordered a $3 SIM card from amazon. Still hoping to get confirmation that it will work over 3g if I do import a Note. Wondered if y'all could help?

So I have had the Note for about a week and I popped a SIM that I had from a non-smartphone into the Note. The SIM was from a device that I had on my AT&T family plan. I'm paying $9.99 a month for it ( I would guess you could add a line to any plan, but the family plan has the advantage of shared minutes across all phones). MyFamily Plan for non-smartphone unlimited data is $10 a month.

As others have mentioned since this is an unlocked phone the AT&T network can't recognize that it a smartphone. I'm getting 3G and HSPA+ access. Depending on coverage in my area I've seen download speeds up to 6.5mb down and 1.5mb up.another nice feature at no additional cost, you can turn the phone into a wifi hotspot for up to 8 devices to connect to. I have an iPad2 wifi version that I link to he phone and while it won't pin your ears back, it does a decent job for emails, IM and lite web browsing. I have not tried to run Netfilx yet, I'll test to see how well it buffers and how smooth the play back in on the iPab.

Overall, I pleased with the device and I'm just starting to use the S Pen. As others have mentioned the GPS radio and access to the US amd Russian satellites makes it the most responsive and fastest GPS I have ever used. It's amazing how quickly it loads, locks in, re-routes, etc.

The Bluetooh radio is the best I've used. I think Samsung has a much better radio, firmware and interface than I had with HTC EVo and EvO 3D. I've never had a pairing issues ( with multiple Bluetooth devices) never had it drop signal in the middle of a call, and I have the control from the phone app screen to turn the Bluetooth on or off while on a call. It's as close to Bluetooth perfection as I've seen on a mobile device to date.

I'm still playing with the voice recognition on the device. Have used both the Viigo and the Samsung stock. Both work, and have had a few quirks, but time will tell. It really comes in handy when driving. I ordered the car dock and I'm waiting for it to arrive for the UK. I have the same on for my GS2 Epoc Touch and really like it. I will review and post pics on how the monstrous Note looks mounted to the windshield!

Stay tuned for more as I continue to use the Note as my daily device.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if the s-pen would be good to annotate powerpoint or PDF slides during lectures. I have a Asus EEE Slate and the stylus is quite good to annotate the pdfs but the battery life is about 2.5 hours, navigating windows with a stylus is a pain, and it's another device to lug around.

I would just want to try out a sim card to see if it worked without having to enter into a commitment of adding another line for 2 more years. Can I just activate a sim card I buy online with a go phone plan from the AT&T website? That would be sweet.
