Cheapest Way To Get 3G?

What is the cheapest way to get 3G? I have T-Mobile but if I can do a non-contract cheapo plan and get hi-speed data then I will just do that until this beastie gets made for T-Mobile.

What are the options?

I got Straight Talk's refurbished Nokia E71, activated, took the sim out and put into my new Galaxy Note, changed the APN and only get edge speed.

Can you tell me how to set the G Note up to get the 3g speed?

I did the straight talk and bought the motorola phone. The sim is locked to the phone. Found out the day after I did this that only the expensive phones have unlocked sims.

I donated the phone and the 30 day unlimited use to the homeless shelter so people can make calls to family over the holidays.
