Good god, really? Another thread about this? You've already bumped 3 of them asking the exact same question.

Newer hardware will see newer updates. More RAM, faster processor = faster, more capable (read: better) phone. The Note II is clearly better, but is it quantum leaps above the OG Note? No. Enough for me to upgrade? No.

As it has been said, do whatever is best for YOU and YOUR NEEDS!

It happens, don't worry about it. Per this article from Android Central Android 4.1.2 update for Galaxy Note could add Nature UX, multi-window feature | Android Central, the original Galaxy Note could see the same features as the Note 2. The only real differences between the Note 1 and 2 are the screens and software. The Note 1 is wider, dual-core, and is on Android version 2.3 Gingerbread; while the Note 2 is taller, quad-core, and is on Android version 4.1 Jellybean. If you want first-hand experience, go into a store and play around with a Note 2, then compare it to your Note. If the Note 2 wins you over, go for it. Either way, you will have a capable handset. Happy New Year

OG Note is on ICS 4.0.4 and (as you stated) soon to be on 4.1.2.

Note 2 is better in all ways the Mali 400MP4 GPU is monster it can handle all textures in game unlike the original note and still maintains around 45 to 60 FPS with minaml hic ups which note orignal does alot i have a Note 1 , it's a bit laggy when you;re powwerhousing it. Note 2 overall (Better Camera F.2.4 i think Better Speakers higher volume and smoother all around ui and apps)

I have the original Note -- I decided to get it rather than waiting for the Note 2, mainly for one reason: The wider aspect ratio screen. I have absolutely NO NEED WHATSOEVER for a taller and narrower screen. The wider screen makes for a far better "tablet style" screen in landscape orientation.

And to get specific, the original Note has USB connection nirvana: USB Mass Storage mode. Which will probably evaporate the minute the JB whiners get their beloved JB update. You sure won't get that in the Note 2. And I will do everything in my power to avoid installing any JB update, because I truly depend upon USB Mass Storage mode.

I'm entirely happy with the original Note's performance, I love the screen, and I use USB Mass Storage mode to synch my personal data files between the Note and my computer. The Note 2 doesn't appeal to me in any way whatsoever.

I prefer my original N7000. I compared the screens side by side in ATT store and they look about the same in sharpness and quality but with more pixels on the first Note I can read more small text and 5 icons across the screen is nice for more shortcuts or widgets.

With the JB update beginning to roll out I hope it will help performance of the original also, though it already does everything that I need. I am still anxious for the JB features and Samsung add ons.

I find it hard to improve on the original Note. nothing against the other handset - its a great one I guess [but an awful lot of broken screens....] - I prefer the display ratio of the original - not sure why other than using a Nexus 7 for awhile convinced me that the Note I "got it right". I liked the display ratio of the ipad mini we have better than the Nex 7, even though the nexus had a better display Quality [density, sharpness, contrast]. sold the N7, bought the note off ebay [and it was a bargain...] spotless, and never looked back. the Note's speaker/audio is superior to the nexus 7 .... I know that's hard to imagine unless you've had one.

Note 1 a phenomenal device once rooted, de-bloated, etc standard android customizations.
and now coming soon... JB. hope it isn't a bust. there were 'issues' with it on N7

I've come from a Bold 9700, Torch 9800, iPhone 4, SGS2 and now the SGNote. I occasionally go back to the Torch 9800, love the physical kb. But the SGNote screen is just so huge, the SPen usable (as a photographer for layouts, lighting grid setups ... i cannot see myself going back to a smaller screen. As opposed to the SGNote2, i suspect very similar. As it is i'm very happy with the SGNote - the original.

I just sold my original Note and purchased the Note 2. For me the difference is huge. I found the Note was unwieldy to handle, much happier with second iteration. It seems snappier and has more options. I have to say that if the original Note is updated there's probably less need to upgrade for some.

    For me, Note 1.
If you walk around reading web pages, the wider screen is better.

Some people like the wider design of the original Note, though I do like
the Note 2s longer design, it has an better grip to me.
