Play store hacked?
There's something wrong with my phone-- I think something may have hacked the play store or something related to it. I found out when I viewed all of the apps and instead of Play Store being where it was, it was the first one and its name was [Play Store one two] (the words "Play Store" were in some sort of weird symbol font.) I tried to look for an apk for the Play Store on Google to see if I could replace it, but when trying to install it, instead of saying "Verify and install", the choice was [Verify and install], but it was in the same symbol font and it had the words "one two three" next to it.
This also happens inside the Play Store. Just about everything (for example, it would say [Store home one two], with "store home" in the symbol font) is in the weird symbol font and is in [brackets].
At this point I think that resetting my phone would be the only way to fix this problem, but I really don't want to lose anything.
What could this mean and how can I fix it?

Re: Play store hacked?
From what you say resetting is actually a good option, though you can try some antivirus like Norton first and see that if detects any app as malicious.
Have you downloaded apps from placed other then the play store, or side loaded them.

Re: Play store hacked?
I have the same problem. My phone is an LG Optimus 2X running Gingerbread 2.3.4. noticed it about two weeks ago, Did a factory reset, and all was good - until I went on the Play Store to redownload my apps, Play Store updated itself from 3.4.7 to 4.9.13. The problem reappeared. Uninstalling the update from Applications resets Play Store back to Play Shop, but if I go into it again, it auto-downloads the update again.
How widespread is this - I googled at the time, and no-one was reporting it. This is the first post I have seen on it. Update - just seen one more referring to accented characters.
I don't have the box checked for unknown sources enabled, and the only 'non-corporate' apps I have on the phone are:
Battery Mix, eBroadcast, Equalizer, Swype + Dragon, and TransitTimes+. To rule out any conflict, have you got any of these installed?
