Ok, I went ahead and took the plunge and ordered this:

Amazon.com: RND Power Solutions Deluxe 2nd Battery Charger and Data Sync Cradle / Desktop Dock Station for Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch & Skyrocket (Sprint & AT&T Versions): Electronics

I'm hoping it works nice with the skyrocket. Gonna order a second battery later, but this will keep my phone charged while at work

I'll post more info (in case no one has) once I receive it.

    UPDATE

    Here are the pics

Looks nice. I'm holding out for one that will work with a case. Fruitless search so far.

This might work depending on the type of case you use.

I'd love to have landscape capability, but I can't get too fussy here - this looks like the best option I've yet seen. I'm using the Casemate Pop, which looks similar in size to the Acvtive. Thanks mrro82!

Seems to have a little room on either side - about 1-2 mm - so it might work with a thin case.

I have the Xpal Powerskin so I have to find another case.

The charging time is amazing. I went from 15% to fully charged in less than an hour.

That's pretty incredible. On the back next to the USB port, is that a plug cover using a standard AC power cord? Just curious.

This will answer your questions, it does connect to an AC Adapter(has two cords, 1 for AC and 1 for Data - not sure the differnece between the two) but both are micro-USB cords. Now it says in the little manual to not use the AC cord for data when connecting to PC(not sure why) but it is a much longer cord and it is shaped like a regular AC cord with +/- polarity

Close up of the AC only cord

Ok, testing the dock out against LTE -

I am streaming via LTE and have the phone docked. With just a PC, it would maintain my battery level, but would not charge. With the dock, it is actually charging the phone(battery level going up).

And best of all it is not overheating like it did yesterday.

    Only showing 99.1 degrees

Compare to when I wasn't streaming

I have this charger as well; got it a couple of weeks ago. I actually bought two - one for work and one for home. It works very well. I also love the fact that a spare battery can be charged as well as the phone. It's a nice addition, and at approximately $22, it's well worth it.

Altarock, purchased this one on ebay and it works with, a case just fine. Has an insert to use without a case as well.

hmm, well if the one I got doesn't work with a case, I might pick that one up and use the current one for home.

I'll find out more this week(ordered a Diztronic case) that will be here Wednesday.

I am using the Sinjimoru dock and love it. It will work in portrait mode with just about any case. It is not as sturdy as I would prefer, but it works well.

I don't get how it will be able to charge in landscapre mode? Looks like the usb connections is fixed for portrait mode.

Well I got my case last night, and just got to work, and it is just a hair too big. Nothing a slight sanding/grinding with a dremel won't fix.

Gonna work on that tonight. Looks like I need to shave off about 1.5-2 mm (yes that's how close it is)

Ok measured and dremeled it all. Shave off 1mm on either side and you also have to shave off at least 1mm on the bottom as well.

Once you do this, it fits perfectly.

As a note, I recommend if you try, set your dermal to 10k rpm minimum. Once you grind away enough material go back over it with either a polishing brush or polishing cotton wheel to smooth out the burrs. On polishing set the dermal to the lowest rpm you can and move it around not staying on one spot for long.

Thanks for the tip! Haven't used my dremel set in awhile, looks like it'll have some use. :-) Guess I better order the dock!

It is ridiculous that we (Android phone owners) have to go to these ends to get accessories to work with our devices. There still isn't an official Skyrocket window mount yet. If I wanted one for an iPhone I would have a dozen different models available in multiple colors. I wish the manufacturers would settle on a standardized format or set of formats.
