    THANK YOU
Have the power switch replaced. You may be able to get away with having it cleaned only. A couple of outfits are mentioned in this thread that can do this on a send-away basis. There may be someone local to you. I sent my phone to Cell Phone Repair Pros; they are based in the United States.

I had the same problem, had the power button replaces, cleaned battery terminals. And the only thing that fixed it was to wedge a piece of paper to make the battery have tighter fit

If you read the thread, you will find that the vast majority of people's problems were solved by the replacement of the power switch. For a few, cleaning the switch contacts solved the issue but some of these people ultimately had to replace the power switch to completely solve the problem. For at least one, it seemed that the issue was caused by a loose battery connection.

For that last one, I could see how that could cause the phone to power off but a problem with the power switch causes the phone to cycle off and on so I am not sure if that person had multiple issues.

    Hope this helps.

Mine is doing the same thing and has been for a while, today it turned off 4 times in the span of a half hour. I know it isn't the power button because it doesn't happen to anything related to the button. I've replaced the battery and taken it in for inspection and nothing, I'm thinking of just waiting it out and getting a new phone.

    P.S I have the GS2

I found the answer to this problem everyone! This site won't let me post the url to the video that solved my vibrating shutting off problem so I will try to explain it. Turn the phone off & remove the battery. On the top of the battery where the gold bars are, gently scrap them & around them to remove residue. Also gently scrape the gold prongs that the battery connects to to power your phone to remove residue. I did it to mine and it worked the first time. My phone has no shut off since. Then replace the battery & voila! Hope you all understand this & hope it fixes it! Good luck!

I have been having the same problem with my note and here is how I fixed it. Take out the battery and find the power button. Then bang the power button fairly hard three times and put the battery back in and it should work

    Hi Everyone,
I had this same problem for some days now. My Samsung Galaxy S2 Lte was vibrating every 2 seconds. Was not turning on, if it would then just for a brief moment the first screen would come up and a line would appear and screen would go black and it would start vibrating again. It was exactly the problem what everyone has written here.
I opened back cover, remove the small seven screws. This guy on You tube tell you how to open it. 'Samsung Galaxy S2 disassembly for repair'
I dipped ear bud in nail polish remover and cleaned the start/off button. Little bit of nail polish remover went inside the button too. it took about on1 to two minutes, all this time i was pushing the start/off button. What ever dust or anything that was sticking inside got cleaned. I kept it open for about 10 minutes so that nail polish remover evaporates completely. Now i put sim card inside and the phone i working perfectly fine for past half an hour. No vibration, no issue at all. If any issue comes up I will post it.
    thx

Samsung galaxy S4 mini Weird problem Samsung galaxy S4 mini receiving calls without me pressing received button
i think what might of happen is that your phone was charge on a hard service. when the call came in, the vibrations activated the call. this maybe one of the reasons why people have phone covers possibly

my question is on sky blue. i didn’t put in in the right section but i hoping someone will come back to me.

also what is the model of your phone ?

yellow is the problems they getting on it switching of and other problems for your reference so this type of phone does have some issues

The only problem I have heard with a phone making or receiving calls or acting erratically was because of the use of a not original phone charger.

Default Re: Wierd Shut-off problem. NOTE 2, power button was the problem

yes power button for me too, took phone apart and that alone fixed it (could then start), but I also cleaned the power 'cable' and switch with isopropoyl alcohol, which probably wasn't the right one, but all good so far

The symptoms for my phone - a samsung note 2, were intermittent flashing b/w initial start up display (ie samsung note 2, GT-N710...) and off (blank screen). If I plugged in charger, would bring up charging display, but that then too would flash b/w that and a blank screen intermittently. A few times I managed to get the phone to proceed beyond initial start up to message from my carrier and then just the SAMSUNG logo, only for it then to switch back to intermittent initial message as before. I also tried the recovery boot approaches holding power, home and vol down (and the alternate vol up approach) and while the vol down approach appeared to proceed to the android symbol and downloading message, that quickly failed too (thank god!) and it returned back to intermittent flashing of the initial start up display and a blank screen.
There are some good guides on youtube for taking the phone apart and replacing the power button so I just followed that apart from the replacing bit

I used that phone for another year or so and it never gave me another problem. It wasn't fixed until I sent it away and had the power switch replaced. I still have it as a backup phone and it really is a great phone even today.

My problem had nothing to do with software, battery condition or root status. To answer your questions, it was NOT rooted at the time and the battery was a newer extended Mugen battery but the same issue was experienced with two different OE batteries. It was the power switch plain and simple.
