Hi guys, I have bought a new a few days ago from Telus, and at the moment they aren't offering the new os which is ice cream sandwich and I don't know if I should wait or root my device, also I would like to.know how to root it and what does it imply! I know its gonna screw my warranty if I got a problem with my phone and that I can't flash it back to normal!

Well rooting in theory does break your warranty.

Since you bought a Samsung, I will tell you that they are hard as heck to brick and mess up permanently.

I didnt notice any ROMs but a quick google search should find you some...

What does the ROM do? It's the data? It's the os?

Ok noobs rooting usually dosent wipe the data unless thats the only way the rom is the os the skin and anything else the developer has cooked into the ui (user interface) and most root hack kits have an un root feature say theres a blotch on your screen flash back to the stock rom abd un root then you can bring it back to the store warrenty center send it in for repairs and they wont know crap
