Galaxy S II - The power saving seems to affect the camera view on Samsung S2 any suggestions?

I have an AR app on my phone which requires me to scan an image using the camera which triggers a video clip. This image appears on a number of items large and small, with both system and user power saving modes turned on it only works 1 out of 10 times on the larger images and not at all on the small ones, if i turn the power saving off it works perfectly every time. Is there an issue with the power saving mode that affects the resolution of the camera?
