Galaxy S2 won't turn on just vibrates every few seconds, why?

Galaxy S2 won't turn on just vibrates every few seconds, any help welcomed.

it started out randomly not booting back up, but would eventually turn back on. Now it's stuck in a loop sort of, it'll load the samsung screen but it never gets past that. It just vibrates every few seconds, managed to get it to turn on the other night and tried to reformat the phone, but it wouldn't let me reformat, I kept clicking the button, but it never did anything. Tried booting it into recovery mode, still nothing, as soon as I let go of the buttons the entire display goes black and it starts buzzing again. Is the phone worthless now, or is there something else I can try?

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already tried a new battery?

I've tried other batteries in it, I've got a spare battery, which work in my other Galaxy s2. I haven't gotten it to boot up since the last time when I tried to see if it would let me reformat, which it wouldn't.

The motherboard or the chips might be failing then.:'(
