This "mini" will be a huge fail. Imo Samsung shouldn't have done it, it is basically a compromise, they should have stuck to their vision of the size and form factor they were pushing for with S3 and Note II. The big screen of the S3 is by far it's best selling point as far as I've seen, the specs are also another huge plus of the S3 but this "mini" has neither, so why bother?

I like the concept of a mini galaxy s3. What I don't like is that this isn't a galaxy s3 at all. The internals to resemble the gs2, cameras and screen are from a gs1, the only thing that's really gs3 about it is the casing! If they wanted to mini s3 it should be identical except for the screen size. And I mean a 720p super amoled hd screen at 4 inches and everything else too!

You forgetting about Galaxy Ace line and if it was a fail there would not be Galaxy Ace 2, i think thats where this phone is targeted, not everyone buys high-end phones

Samsung just freaking puts out too many products. My god the tablets make no sense. You got the gtab, Gtab 7.0 plus, 7.7, 8.9, 10.1, then after all that you have the gtab2 with weaker specs than the tablets that preceded it! And now they have the note tablet to even further confuse the market!

Yep. They need to focus on less models, and refine those before launching 5 others. It's stupid.

Samsung are clearly trying to grab as much of the market as possible, hence the size to match the iPhone 4/4s. I think it is a good move, mainly if they keep the internals the same as the S3 (albeit, that might be hard, due to the size)...

I hear people say often, "I like the phone, it is just too big". Well, here you go, boom!

I don't see why people are mad at the specs... I see it as they have a choice for the higher grade one or lower grade one with decent specs for a lower price... As long as it still has the same features I don't see a problem... I mean it's a Mini version

I dunno I guess I would expect a phone with this name would actually be a gs3. Honestly the specs don't suck and are more than enough to run android great but a gs3 it us is not. At the very least it should have the same camera and same screen except smaller.

But mad? Nah. This won't be released in the states anyway.

    Galaxy S III "Mini"

Have you watched any of the Austin Powers movies. Mini Me is basically physically similar copy of Dr. Evil. But they're not the same people. The S2 is a dumbed down version of S3 so it makes sense. A S2 in a smaller form factor that looks like an S3.

I think they just want to compete with iPhone 5 with this so called "S3 Mini". Except for the screen size, the compact version held most features of the Galaxy S3.

Honestly its a great budget phone depending on the price they want. Even being 2 and a half year old tech, the old galaxy s super amoled screen was great on my captivate and on most budget phones your lucky to get a half way decent looking lcd. I'm not sure what price they are asking unlocked but it could be a great no contract phone. The name is the problem, creates market confusion.
