Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
So perhaps a good bit of info for anyone on Virgin, if you have one of the "my buddies" plans, they don't classify that as a smartphone plan, and therefore you max out at HSPA+.
My plan consists of 6GB data, yet they won't call that a smartphone plan... sounds odd to me, but I'm not giving it up for what little I'm paying for it. I can live without the LTE for a while. - 06-29-2012, 08:38 PM #57
Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
update still no pebble blue for rogers they are getting limited phones, anyway i asked them the magical question what is the sense of preordering and said if you have a white one i will take that, so i am so happy to finally get my hands on this slick phone! oh and they gave me a $50.gift card for all the aggravation!

Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
Hi guys - I had a Bell Galaxy S Vibrant (with that LOVELY faulty motherboard recall issue) but left Android on phone (still have it on my HP Touchpad) and went iPhone about a year ago. I also had a white BB Bold 9900, which I sold yesterday. Picked up a 16 GB Pebble Blue SGS3 about an hour ago.
What a phone. - 07-05-2012, 05:59 AM

Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
Just so I'm clear, I'm with Telus and at the top of my phone it says 4G is this LTE? It seems pretty fast, (way faster than my bb with H+)

Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
Thanks everybody, I'm just outside of Ottawa, and am on a fringe area so I wasn't sure.

I got my s3 about a week ago and I'm loving it. Whole different experience from blackberry.
But I don't see lte, only 4g, on the notification bar. At first I thought it was because I was in Mississauga, but apparently there's supposed to be Rogers LTE service there. I even noticed that when I was in Toronto the notification still said 4g. Any idea why?

Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
Nah not if you catch carriers at the right time. Rogers just did a 6gb/$60 plan yesterday and Bell/Virgin followed up with another one today.
I switched mine to the latest one today so I should be getting LTE, just waiting for that icon to pop up
might need to give them another call.

Re: Galaxy s3 in Canada
Hello my Canadian brethren hehe
this is kind of off topic but I figured it didn't warrant its own thread. Do you guys know of any retail stores that have actually half decent pricing on microSD cards? All the usual suspects (futureshop, bestbuy etc) are insanely overpriced. (see $40 for a class 10 16gb card). While I'm not opposed to buying online, my S3 is coming in the next few days and I would love to have the card right off the bat. If theres no good stores, anyone know of any good online Canadian retailers (or ships to Canada) with a sale right now or something? Thanks.
