Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
Hey, that member's me! lol
And yes, messing with the volume database works like a charm. It even lets you reduce the volume from the stock levels if you don't want to remove the sounds altogether (I'm trying to figure out what each variable does and will post back in that other thread when I figure it out)

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
Ya that'll stop them, more feel good useless garbage being pushed on us. Why not make it illegal to take pictures up stranger's skirts, that should stop it right?
the vzw version better not be neutered. Eh at least there's a way around it, further pointing out how stupid it is. Hardy har. (ranting at the high ups who implement these features not anyone in particular) - 07-07-2012, 08:10 AM #29

So why don't you enlighten the rest of us rather than being so smug

I'm not rooted so I can't silence mine but if you really need to take a silent picture you can record a video and take still images. The sound doesn't play

I have the international S3 and when silent mode is on the camera shutter sound is off. Not on vibrate, full mute.

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
I found a way to silent the camera shutter sound.
I am using Rogers version... turn the phone to vibrate mode and this will mute the shutter sound. If you are trying this on other carriers, please report back if it works as well. - 07-08-2012, 05:18 PM #36
Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
Same results with Telus (mute does silence the shutter sound).

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
Vibrate or Silent mode DOES mute the shutter sound on Verizon phones.

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
Couldn't someone with the version of the S3 that has an option to turn off the shutter sound just post up the APK for the camera and then everyone else could install it?
I have no clue if that's how this works but on my Droid X I used to have several camera apps installed. I was running MIUI however and don't know if there is even a way to extract just the Sense camera. - 07-09-2012, 10:13 AM #44

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
I am on Telus in Canada and as long as my phone is on Vibrate or Silent the camera focus and shutter sound doesn't go off.
Weird it does it for some but not others...
Just as a side note I am running stock ICS, no roots or hacksLast edited by LeafsNSox; 08-04-2012 at 01:39 PM. Reason: Update information

Re: Turning camera shutter sound off
I am on an unlocked international SGS3 on Rogers, and when I pull the volume all the way off to vibrate, no more shutter sound. However, when I do the same thing with my wife's (same model, same carrier), the shutter sound is still heard. The 2 differences with the phone right now are:
I did an update to mine through the software update.
I rooted my SGS3.
I will keep looking and try to find a solution to this and will report back if I find anything.
PS: New to the forum. Hello everyone
