keyboard question. I want a comma
On my Samsung infuse I had a comma next to my spacebar (to the left). So a comma, then space bar, then period.
Is there any way to get a comma on the front page of the keyboard, opposite the period?? - 07-08-2012, 01:54 PM #2

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
Sorry, I should have clarified that I'd like to use the standard android keyboard. Is there any way to get a comma in the factory keyboard.
Hated swiftkey, way too" busy" for my liking. - 07-08-2012, 05:14 PM #6
Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
on the stock keyboard, just press space. The predictive text options displays (amongst others) a comma, tap that and it will add a comma to the end of the last word in the message, leaving the space after it. Took me a couple of goes to figure out too.

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
I see the comma that you are speaking of, but when I press the space bar it puts a space and then I see the options to pick the comma. When I pick the comma, it puts the comma in my message but with a space before it. Proper English has no space before the comma. In order to fix it, I have to press the delete to delete the space. I real pain...

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
Here is the answer...for less than 3 dollars, you can get the Smart Keyboard Pro. It does it all...(no I do not have stock in these guys). I am on the same page as many of you. The stock keyboard does not cut it. SwiftKey is too busy. This Smart Keyboard Pro does it all. Different skins, change the keys, add spaces, change key press length....you name it. You can change it. Trust me get it...This now makes the phone 98% good...

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
Man, this keyboard sucks. Is there a way to download the swype keyboard from the galaxy s2? It was the best.

Totally understand. Samsung's keyboard layout sucks money balls. When you're writing something you can only use (") that is stupid. You don't start a quotation with the ending quotation mark. You use (“). This was also the original problem I found on store until I realized you can hold it down and select the starting quotation mark (“). Even more so it should be smart enough to know that the first time you press the quotation mark it gives you the starting one and the second time it gives you the ending one. Hell my Palm Centro knew that. Oh well
Swype keyboard is better than Samsung's but I have to give it to Samsung in terms of the color and fitting the phone it looks kind of sexy. The T9 is all-out more crisp than the blurry orange line that store uses. I wish I could change themes or something. - 07-18-2012, 01:40 PM #14
Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
To get a comma (and a couple of other punctuation marks), hold down the period for a couple of seconds, the comma (and others) will appear. Pick what you want, then touch off the box that appears.
This can also be used on the numbers.
I know not what OP is looking for, but still easier than toggling between the numeric/punctuation keyboard and back to normal one. - 07-18-2012, 10:39 PM #15
Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
OP, I cant answer for stock.... Everybody else, I never downloaded different keyboards until now with the S3. So from your reviews, I thought SwiftKey and Swype were the only REAL options. But as someone who isn't biased to any keyboard, I tried 'A.I. Type' cause someone mentioned it on another post (because it has that 5th row for numbers, like a full sized qwerty, and all my passwords have mixed numbers and letters).... Man, A.I.Type craps on the other keyboards as far as I'm concerned. Some people (I think even the person that originally recommended it) said the predictive typing is not as good as SwiftKey.... I don't know, so far they seem about even. Either way, I just wanted to put that extra option out there. I especially like that you can size the keyboard to your fitting, also like that you can hit the bottom button and it gives you full 'edit' functions like cut, copy, paste, undo, redo, home, end, select all, etc. Also like that that 5th row can be changed up for different things too, or removed completely... Also like all the configurations (skins) like Gingerbread, Iphone 4s and others. I'm just saying, don't get stuck on the SwiftKey hype!

Smart Keyboard Pro will allow you to long press the period to get a comma.

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
A workaround is selecting the word you just typed in the predictive text area. Afterwards, there are a handful of punctuation marks that pop up, including the comma. Using this method negates the requirement to hit the space bar, as a space will be automatically input when you start typing the next word.

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
Glad you found that works. I would have recommended Swift Key 3 as well.

Re: keyboard question. I want a comma
If I hold down the period next to the spacebar, I get some punctuations. If I press comma, it will automatically add a space if you just keep typing. (As mentioned above)
My letters also have punctuations if I long press them. If I long press 'n', it adds a comma and a space. Long press 'm' for a question mark, and so on.
