For phone AND music or just phone?

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
I had to chime in on this issue, because I thought I was the only one. For the record I have a T-mobile USA Galaxy S3 and have the same exact issues.
I read and determined that in order for me to even pair the device, I had to have bluetooth on before the car was turned on. It is very odd because my HTC Sensation would auto connect no problem.
I'm still doing more testing and checking what works. I tried turning it off and then back on while the car is running and it does not connect automatically. I was able to get the device paired when I had bluetooth on before the car. I'll see if turning on bluetooth before car is started will result in auto connect. If so, that is pretty lame. It will mean I'd prob have to do the NFC tag thing or just turn on bluetooth then the car. - 07-18-2012, 01:16 PM #53

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
I've had the same issues. From UK and have a Nissan Qasqai.....never had any problems for the last year with my HTC Desire H D. After finding this forum last night and reading all the comments I decided to go back to the phone shop today. After going through a couple of channels it turns out that they know about these problems and have offered me a brand new alternative. I'm going back in tomorrow to pick up my new HTC one X....24 months is too long to be in a contract with a phone that doesn't do the job. I'm going back to what I know. And I would advise everyone to take their phones back and demand a better one! Good luck.

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
Same issue. 2012 Subaru WRX. I have tried every "Fix" possible, aside from rooting and putting a different ROM on the phone. Luckily all I have to do is select the device on my stereo, no going into the phone. But it is frustrating as my iPhone 4 autoconnects seamlessly as soon as I enter the car and start it, and it has track titles, unlike the S3. I even deleted the iPhone profile from my car, no luck still with the S3. (Don't take this as a iPhone fan thing, the S3 trashes the iPhone in every other aspect
)

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
Same no-auto connect if the screen is in timeout. So now I just squeeze the on off as I get in the car to wake up the phone and put it on the seat. My IP4 connected automatically. They have to change the software to have the bluetooth discoverable when the phone is sleeping.
Okay, now I am thoroughly confused. My S3 was sitting next to me with the screen in time out, black. I asked my MacBook Pro to look for bluetooth devices and it woke up my S3 and gave it a code request to pair with my MBP!!! I do have the box checked that allows my S3 to be bluetooth discoverable. So it looks like it does stay discoverable, but again, it seems to need to be on to pair with my car bluetooth.Last edited by jimbomcm; 07-19-2012 at 04:03 AM.

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
Finally got it to work in my Subaru WRX. Found the solution on another forum. I had to use my steering wheel/voice controls in the car to pair the phone, rather than the menu options on my console. Now it auto-connects! Maybe this will work for other vehicles as well.

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
I had that problem as well. I had to go into car settings and clear out the connections. According to the manual it would only store 4 connected phones. I only used my Droid X, but I am guessing my flashoholic history may have eaten a few slots (or the I may have forgotten one, or some other odd scenario...).

I wish i had an answer for you but it sounds like you have a defective unit. I use jays freedom. Bluetooth head phones at the gym and they pair as soon as i turn them on. I also drive a 2012 gti and it pairs as soon as i turn the car on and the phone book syncs and media plays without any problems. You should exchange your phone it sounds like you have a faulty Bluetooth radio. I am on Verizon as well.

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
A week later trying to pair with my car (CR-V) and I'm finding it is very erratic. Sometimes it will pair with phone and media correctly... most times it will not. Sometimes it pairs up and then disconnects a minute later. Sometimes it just pairs up with media. Sometimes it pairs up with both media and phone unchecked. It does not disconnect when I manually pair it though.
Another poorly designed behavior is that if I'm listening to Pandora or another media player on my phone and I turn the car off... the phone starts playing it over the phone speaker instead of stopping. That's just irritating. - 07-25-2012, 11:31 AM #69
Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
I have a BMW and a Garmin Zumo. Seems OK to the BMW (get in, start the car, 15 seconds later, it connects). The Zumo is hit and miss, but if I turn the BT off and on before I start my bike, it connects fine every time.
I think it's a s/w problem. My phone is an unlocked UK version (in blue if anyone cares)

I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but today I turned on location services for the first time to test out GPS, and this was the first time that I had to manually connect the bluetooth to the stereo. All other times (since first pairing it) it has connected automatically. Could that be affecting it? I'm on Verizon.

Re: S3 Bluetooth Does NOT Auto Connect to Car
Having the same issues here and wondered if anyone knew how to delete the stuff you connected to in the past from the memory? Like not just unpair it, that is simple...but for me it always shows everything I ever connected to below and Im wondering if that is somehow causing a conflict?
