I would say it depends on when you need a new phone... if you have the patience to wait until the next Nexus device is announced, do that. Only problem there is no one knows when that will be for certain yet. Could be in 3 months - could be next year.

If you want one of the best devices that's available right now, then that's easy, GSIII.

This phone's pretty beast. Runs smoother than the gnex, but nexus' are always fun to tinker with.

You can always wait for the next phone. By the time the nexus ships there will be something better on the horizon worth waiting for. In the mean time we are rocking the gs3. If something way better comes out, can always sell the gs3.
