Squeezing more icons per home screen page.

I used to use multicon widgets which lets you put 4 icons in the space of one.

When I got my S3, I started having touchwiz freezes and other app freezes, so I started exploring other launchers. I really like using a different launcher, and it wasn't as scary as I thought since installing it didn't destroy my existing touchwiz screens.

I briefly tried nova and then go launcher ex.

When I increased the grid to 6x6 or 7x7, it screwed up the widgets.

What's the best way to cram more icons per home screen without messing up widgets?

Multicon seems not to work with go launcher, and it isn't as functional as having individual smaller icons which can be dragged around independently. With multicon, you have to assign at least 4, which move together. It requires much more thought and pre-planning to organize.

Yikes, seconds after clicking save, I realized this really should have been in the software section, since it's not really S3 specific. I don't see a delete thread feature. I don't want to be accused of spamming if I post this in another forum here at AC.

So my widgets get messed up too when I drop them on a home screen - they are being resized - you can turn that off.

You can also press and hold on a "messed up" widget and resize it from the home screen - just make it bigger and it comes back to life and looks normal. I haven't had any trouble with my widgets once I got used to this.

I use the widget More Icons. You can put 4 icons in a space of one, or put 16 icons in a space for 4. I've been using this widget for a long time and really like it, and it works fine on my S3. Good luck.

Nova launcher for example lets you go 7 rows and 7 columns. Each icon takes one squere. Or one folder takes one square. When using widgets alot of them say there size and then it makes sense. Clock/Weather widgets that a lot of people are using are 4x2. So when you place them at first there only going to take up that much space unless you resize them (press n hold then resize). Some look cool compact and others do not.
