The best app most stable messaging app your gonna find is something that deosn't look fake, go sms pro looks fake as hell, so does handcent. and chomp sms doesn't look that fake at all. if the app looks fake, then its a bad sms app, notice how on angry birds it doesn't look like pure gold, but the game itself is addicting, nobody cares about looks.

For the life of Christ, why are the message input boxes so small on all these apps?

Can anyone recommend a messaging app that has a big square input box(not a miniscule little rectangular box) so I don't have to fight with scroll bars if I want to see my entire message(w/o scrolling) before hitting the irrevocable "Send" button.

Clearly someone must have realized this deficiency and responded to the need..surely someone..

What the heck does "look fake" mean?

Go SMS gives you the ability to enter text in a large box. Just tap the icon with four arrows next to the small text entry box.

Yes, my wife and I have had this happen a few times when using Handcent. I was never able to find anyone else that experienced this.
Both of us are on Verizon.

I agree, I was getting a bit tired of their "the world didn't end" pushes and so I went looking in the settings. You can go to the Settings --> Receive Settings --> Push Message and uncheck the box. This seems to have stopped the spam from them.

So I have a Galaxy Axiom and I'm new to smartphones. I'm looking for an app that will let me know if my text messages were read and delivered. As well as being able to send a picture text to someone without a smartphone and have it actually work, seeing as though my phone automatically turns it into a slideshow that some of my friends can't see on a basic phone. I don't need anything with fancy backgrounds, or smiley faces, etc. Thanks.

I used to use GO SMS but I frankly got tired that almost each new update required new permissions. Latest it requires access to be able to change my configuration settings on the phone. Handcent has the same required permission. Can anyone please enlighten me why these SMS apps require such permissions? And can we just blindly trust them anymore? I'm looking for a better solution than the normal stock that also have Emoji (too many iPhone user friends ) and be able to import contact cards that clients could send (GM SMS did those well.)

I used Chomp, Handcent, Go Sms and Pandi app in the past. Most used app for sms is Go Sms. Ever since I upgraded my phone to S 3 (now I have note 2), I found the stock messaging do the trick. I started to dislike the pop up Window, it become so annoying when I am in the game. Some game will restart to the beginning if the message pop up. Honest, it is capable of doing the same thing as Go sms able to do expect the pop up Window.

Another reason I stop using go sms purely of how developers doing to its customers. It decided to charge feature that was free in the past and remove some the feature that people rely on. I frown upon devs that decided to charge the features that already free in the past. And it did make some long time customer of go sms pro to switch to different app.

If you are wondering what features that dev push it. It the save sms locally. It been like that since it became pro. And now it forcing me to use Go Cloud without any options to save the message locally. Now last year, the lost feature came back to go sms pro and I have to pay to save my message locally for every 180 days. And I have a feeling the reason they do this just to data mine our data and sell it to get money and that is a big no no on my book.

My Go SMS app has been lagging quite a bit. It will take so long to type out a message and half the time I can't tell what I am typing and end up sending a really stupid text.

I'm looking for an alternative but I want emojis.

I don't like having ads anywhere

Great App but currently doesn't "unblink" the LED when using LightFlow which is a deal-breaker for me but he updates alot so hopefully it'll be fixed soon. He's told me he's looking into it for the past couple weeks.
If LED doesn't matter, ya it's a fabulous App with a unique UI.

I have go sms pro. I used to love it because of hoe much customization you can do. But recently the app has been getiing annoying. To start off around christmas time when I was in the app there was this dumb animation popping up like all the time and it made my phone lag. This was going on for like 2 weeks after christmas. Next was the fact that I noticed in my photo gallery there were dozens of small pics from the app. I dont know how they got there. And finally I keep getting random messages from go sms. I dont like handscent. It just doesnt feel right to me. Besides those two apps anyone know any other good texting apps??

I use the stock message app with Notifier Pro to compliment it for popup. I'd recommend this setup any day.

I do the same with GlowFly. It even has an option to add missed call reminders (something I really need since there are times I don't hear my phone)...

Currently using GoSMS but I'm actively looking for other options. I tried Chomp SMS but group texting doesn't work right. I haven't tried Handcent but there was some sort of outage with them last week so not sure what's up with that. Do texts go through Handcent servers or something?

I wish I could use the stock app but like Chomp, the group texting feature doesn't work right.

    Hey Guys,
LonG Time Browser, First Time Poster. I Recently Joined Sprint. The Wife AndMyself Both Are Using The HTC EVo 4G Lte, And When We Text MessageE,Our Texts Get SplitUp Into A Few Messages, Most Of Which Are Out Of Order Almost Every Time (That Is On The Rare Occasion That All Of The Messages Come Through In The First Place)

I Was Just Wondering If Getting A Different Messaging App Would Make A Difference, OR If The Problem Is With Sprint Or This Phone Specifically. Any And All Help/Advice Is GREATLY Appreciated.

Not a fan of the stock sms app for the sole reason that you have no idea who is texting you if you're in a group chat.

I've mostly been a handcent user - however there are some bugs that really made me start looking elsewhere. mainly - and this only happens in group chats - is that i'll type something out...hit send...and the message disappears...it never gets sent. no idea where it goes, but that kinda scares me. lol. i tried go sms....wasnt for me...laggy...just didnt like it. now i found chomp sms. i love everything about this app except for the group chat....it sends the messages as an individual message to each user (two of my friends that i group chat with a lot are iphone users....i get their messages in my group chat...but when i respond through chomp, they get the message as if i was texting them soley, not in their group message). so i have yet to find the perfect sms app for me...i'm big on the group texting so if anyone knows something better, let me know....i really like chomp though...hoping an update comes out soon to fix the group messaging. i like that with chomp, when you get a text, you can customize what you see in the notification bar. i can still see who is texting but the message doesnt show. (handcent would only say i have a new message but i didnt know from who).
