change the size of the stock time widget?

On my old photon I was able to increase or decrease the size of my time/date/weather widget on my home screen. I'm struggling to do the same on my gs3.

Currently it takes up about 33% of my screen and I want to shrink it down some. Any ideas or am I stuck?

If you're using the stock launcher I think you're stuck - you'd have to see if there's a different widget that is the size you prefer.
If you use an alternate launcher like Nova Launcher: then you can resize widgets, but be aware that you may not end up with the look that you want.
Your best bet is to look for a 3rd party widget that is exactly what you want. Some to try are:

My Beach HD:

Thanks! I may have to do that. I thought as much. Just wanted to verify I wasn't stupid and it really isn't possible to shrink it down using stock.

nova prime launcher is really recommended although its not free.
samsung will probably never make a decent home screen as they know power users are gona use an alternative.
p.s, nova prime and "i think" apex launcher can "import" the homescreen set up you already have to make it less painless making folders again etc
