1. ## About cycles in battery recharges

I heard that most Lithium batteries are made to last about 500 cycles (charge / discharge), but I have 2 questions:

1. Does one cycle mean: full discharge (0%), and full charge (to 100%)? that's counted as one cycle? What if I discharge it to 50% and then charge it to 100%, is that another cycle? half a cycle?
and ...
2. After those 500 cycles the battery will stop charging to its full capacity? and start degrading? or just when you reach the cycle about #500 It will not work at all?

Gracias anticipated.

1. so lets say you have 100% !! you use 40% and then charge it back to 100% again and then u use 60%. then thats 1 cycle.
it doesn't matter how much you used on one charge. when u use up battery's charge fully once its one cycle.

so, answer to both the scenario you mentioned on 1.) is a NO. part one is technically 1 cycle since you use 100% to 0% which is one cycle.

2. After 500 cycle the battery capacity will be 80%. it will still charge but the capacity to hold charge is lower.

thats why i like about Nexus 4. It has 800 cycle capacity. which will last longer.

That is full cycles. If you only use a portion, say 50% before charging, then it is good for more then twice as many cycles.

At some point, the battery capacity will start to dramatically drop. The battery may even start to swell.

Keep the battery cool, and charge often. Avoid full cycles. It should last for years.

Yeah its not good to always let the phone die I heard or it will limit the battery life
It is good that at least 5 times you let the battery drain to about 3% and then charge it back up

How I like to think of it, you have to let the battery "learn" its limit, so taking it down to like 3%, it learns that 3% is its lowest point so it will adjust itself to use maximum potential between 3% and 100%...if you let it die, it will "forget" its limit and it wont work as well....just a lil thing that I go by

too late for me i've had my phone for almost 2 years. Too many full discharges. And it hasn't swollen as of yet (if it dose I'll deff get rid of it asap!! No need to hold a mini stick of dinomyte) my charge is deff deterrierated, and quick I'm a heavy user

the way Jerry from the podcast explained it, two 50% charge/discharges equals one cycle, etc.
ive never had a battery go dud in my life.
only wory if you have a built-in batt
