A warning about pirated apps
Ok some of us are guilty of it especialy me but after installing two cracked apps lastnight, Xperian Tapatalk and GSam pro (which was stupid as it seems no different from the free one), out of the blue today my screen would only stay on for under a second (even in safe mode) so i had to factory reset without having made a back up (was planning to root soon n backup and do a reset soon, typical)
So, never thought id say this but it isnt worth it.
Just spent 3hours letting my apps download over a slow tethered wifi hotspot.
In my defence.. most apps should have a much longer refund period so we can test cpu/battery use etc!
Luckily id copied my backups of Nova, go sms, widget locker to Ext Sd (top tip)
Ive used pirated apps for years but they seem to be gettin more dodgy so id idvise everyone to uninstall your "alternative" appstores etc and campaign to google to give us a longer trial period on certain apps.
Just my 2p

Re: A warning about pirated apps
I'll certainly agree with you that the current refund period of 15 minutes is ludicrous - they might as well not have a refund period. I'm not sure why the original 24 hour refund period was changed - that was a reasonable amount of time to evaluate most (but not all) apps. I got the impression that too many people were taking advantage of the 'system' and getting refunds on apps; that just means that developers need to have 'lite' versions so that users are more certain of what they're getting, but of course many don't.

Re: A warning about pirated apps
Thats all very good and i agree but how can you test an app in 15mins? All devs should make a fully functional week trial and an unlock key!
I respect the devs but respect myself as a consumer too.
Way it is, we'r bein forced to install dodgy crap just to test it properly. Thats wrong.

Re: A warning about pirated apps
I have used a pirated app or two when the free version was not available or it was an expensive app. The same rule applies for me in that instance as with free apps. If I am still using it after two weeks, I buy the paid version.
None of the apps I used that were pirated stayed.. At all.

Re: A warning about pirated apps
Does anyone find the reviews in Play effective in determining if an app is a knockoff or bogus? I understand this may be a bit different than the primary concern voiced here, but perhaps related if Play is the main app source.

Re: A warning about pirated apps
Im in the habit of selecting the option to view reviews from users of my own device and before updating, selecting "from this version only"
Reviews can be good but a lot of them are less tech savvy than us and dont notice severe battery use and stuff

Re: A warning about pirated apps
Yes, I do the same. That is a nice feature in Play where you can filter by device and review relevance/date, etc. Guess its impossible to weed out some of the rogue apps even with a review system in place. Thanks for bringing awareness to this...
