Just downloaded the app for the free trial n im amazed by the picture quality but no matter what aspect ratio i set the tv to, theres always black strips at side.
The tv is 16:9 ratio screen and the movie fills whole of my phone screen.
Cant find any settings in the Netflix app for ratio.
Is it just me?

Ps i dont own a computer hence usin my phone

just checked as i don't have the MHL cable myself but was interested to know.
it should be possible, as this person in this clip shows a video playing in full screen, go to 6:00. It's not netflix but don't see why other video players shouldn't do it:

is screen rotation turned on so that it flips sideways and fills the tv screen whole?

12:55, this guy has netflix full screen. Is your MHL cable original? That may have something to do with it.

I'm in exactly the same boat, which is why I'm on here now. I used to watch netflix on my TV via my samsung S3's HDMI adaptor - and it worked beautifully, crystal clear filling the screen. Then the handset upgraded to Jellybean - and I've had the black lines ever since, and nothing I do will get rid of them. BUT the phone diaplys full screen, and plays normal video full screen still.

This hasn't helped you at all, I know, but your not the only one!

Thanks for the linkps and advice peeps. Yes the phones in landsape mode, no its not genuine samsung adaptor but desgned for s3)
Top tip, pay a bit more n get samsung, build quality of this thing is dire lol.
