Return to Homescreen lag?

I am running unmodded, unrooted, Verizon GS3 with ICS.

When I am in an app and I return to my home screen by pressing the home button, the phone returns to the homescreen pretty instantaneously. However, once I am on the homescreen, there is maybe a half a second lag where I cannot do anything (I cannot swipe left or right or hit an app).

I have turned both Windows Animation Scale and Transition Animation Scale to "off" in the Developer settings. As well, I have disabled S Voice.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I should emphasize that there is no lag returning to the homescreen, but once it has returned to the homescreen, there is half a second lag where the screen does not repond to any input.

Id suggest using a custom launcher.
Using a live wallpaper and a lot of widgets can cause the lag but apex or nova are faster than the stock homepage ;)

I am actually using Nova, I found that there is lag in both touchwiz and nova.
