Question unresponsive screen, want to fix it myself, but how?

Well the title says it all, my phones screen is unresponsive also its black ha, my phone turns on, but no screen and no touch. I just want to replace it, because AT&T is charging me $200 to replace it, I want this to be my last option, I want to see if I can fix the screen myself first for cheap. I was looking in amazon and it is like $250 for the replacement parts, well not an option.

Anybody else has done these before? maybe someone that can help me with an ebay link for cheaper?

If anybody has experience doing this, maybe send me a pm or something, I really need to fix my phone before the 19th, because I will be traveling a lot, and I neeeeed my sammy S3 before I do so.

    Thank you very much

    Why is not working?
    May not be the display.

Because at first it was just unresponsive, I was able to see my screen, but It wouldnt let me play with it, but after a few hours, the screen went back, and it wont turn on.

The problem is that I dropped my phone a couple of weeks ago, and the screen has a couple of small cracks, so now they wont help me because of "accidental damage" but the screen worked fine for 2 weeks up until yesterday.

Sad thing is, I bought my phone on november 2nd

You wont be able to find cheaper prices for screen replacement. The reason is the digitizer (touch sensing layer) is either integrated/fused or glued to the amoled screen very tightly. So the only way to replace it is by replacing both things. It use to be cheap and easy to replace screens on pmp, phone and tablets but now it is harder due to thin form being popular.

So you think 200 for a new phone will be the best option? Like I said I have AT&T insurance, so they will ship me a new one. Do you think they will let me keep the battery? I mean the battery is in perfect condition ha.

Do you have a link for the digitizer and the new screen?

Of course i never condone taking out an expensive online insurance policy with little or no reductable and reporting it stolen after the fact as that would be fraud and something ive never done!

Have you tried booting into recovery mode and wiping your data and cache (factory restoring)? If you don't know how to boot into recovery mode just turn off your device and than hold the volume up key, power button, and home key while booting. Toggle options with the volume keys and select options with the power button.

I don't know how at&t operates now, but a few years back (the one and only time I sent a phone in for repair) I was instructed not to send the battery back with the phone. Not sure if it was a shipping cost or safety issue, but in any case I ended up with working phone and two batteries.
