Default Micro SD Card for my S3

I am looking to replace the 2GB micro SD Card in my S3 with a 16GB or 32 GB card. I see that there are many cards available with different specs.

Please tell me if any of the cards are acceptable or what minimum specs do I need to make sure that I have satisfactory performance

Go for the 32GB - and get Class 10

Don't bother with the 64GB or the Ultra class I speed cards - they are hit and miss from all the forum posts I've been reading.

Not just with this phone, other phones as well.

The 32GB Class 10's have been out for a while and don't seem to have issues.

I have been using AData cards in my phones (NewEgg) and some other good cards I've read about are the Samsung microSD's

Don't go too cheap on the card - pay a little more for a good name.

No issues whatsoever with our: 32GB SanDisk Ultra microSDHC Class 10 UHS-1 cards (purchased back in October @ Radio Shack, on sale for $23.), and installed in GS3 & Galaxy Note. No formatting was needed; we just popped them in and they've been working great ever since. Both SD & SDHC work.

You'll read pros & cons about all brands. Probably is good advise to stick the more popular ones.

My 64gb Sandisk card is working BEAUTIFULLY!! Stick to name brand cards like Sandisk, Samsung, etc.. and you should be fine!

There's been threads on various forms addressing fried sd cards on the S3.

You haven't been reading the forums correctly. It seems the 32g SDHC cards are getting toasted.
I have a Sandisk 64g SDXC in mine. Working just peachy.

I am expecting to buy a 16 GB card (fr my wife's S3) so do I need to do anything about frying bug? Also, my S3 has a 32 GB card (from SanDisk) is there anything I should do to prevent it from frying?

Don't format it. It should be good to go right out of the wrapper.
I put my SDXC 64g card in with the battery out. Didn't format it, and it works fine.

Seems to be the class 10 cards that are getting wasted by the phone - I have 32gb Sandisk Ultra that fails to get recognised intermittently. I've ordered a 32gb Sandisk class 4 card...fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, no. I had TWO different SD cards fried on two different SG3s -- different brands, different speeds.

What I recommend is that you backup you SD to a PC frequently -- so that you don't suddenly lose something valuable.

When have the sd cards failed for you? While it was in use in your phone or when you were transferring files to it via PC??

Samsung has their own sd card coming out for those that didn't know. Might be expensive but you shouldn't have a problem and if you do you can click out on a Samsung rep lol
