Kind of underclocks, but it's not very noticeable. Your screen brightness drops and I believe your connections timeout sooner. I used it for the first month or so I had my SIII while at work. I remember shutting it off and not noticing any difference in my battery life.

My rom doesn't have it, so I just use the no frills cpu power saving option

Sent from my SPH - L710 running Pac Man Rom 4.1.2

    My notification bar >>>>>> yours
Android is a tune up sports car with custom interior, sound system, and IOS is a stock model benz

I use Android, because unlike IOS, i keep my apps in app drawers, and not infinitely cluttered homescreens

Not sure about how it affects the processing power but it does dim some screens and the notification bar within certain apps, not all however.

I've just installed the Siyah Kernel on the stock 4.1.2. Although it gives you the option to underclock, even on default settings the battery is miles better than stock.
