How do I restore contacts after rooting and flashing custom ROM?
I have a Verizon GS3 that I recently installed CleanROM on, everything appears to be working well. I had all my contacts backed up using Verizon's Backup Assistant. But the app is no longer on the phone and I can't find it in the Play store. My contacts are still intact when I log into Verizon's website. How do I restore my contacts back onto my phone?
Edit: After some search, apparently I would need to re-flash back to the original ROM, backup my contacts to Google, and then re-flash back to the CleanROM. Can anyone point me to step-by-step directions as to how to flash back to the original ROM and then re-flash to the CleanROM again?
Re: How do I restore contacts after rooting and flashing custom ROM?
i was gonna say that you just reboot your phone and your contacts should be there. but you already figured out that you had to have google backup enabled for that to work. another option is using a 3rd party app like my backup or go backup that includes contact backups.
so to answer your new question, going to an old rom is super simple. just reboot into recovery. go to backup/restore. select "restore," then pick out the nandroid backup you made before flashing your new rom. easy.

You rooted without understanding recovery mode?
Turn the phone off. Wait for it to power down completely. Press and hold, all at the same time, Volume Up, Home and Power. When the Samsung logo appears, let go of all three buttons. If you let go a little too soon, or a little too late, the phone will boot normally. Just turn it off and try again.
But note that to do a Nandroid restore, you must have previously done a Nandroid backup of your original ROM. If you didn't, there's nothing to restore from.
