Unlocked 3mobile phone not upgrading firmware

I got a 3 mobile SIII GT-i9300 while I was in the UK and brought it back home with me to Barbados. It has been asking to upgrade for a few weeks and I allow it to do it over the wireless and it says sucessfully downloaded but then when it installs it always get to 32% then a dead android robot icon comes up then it just restarts. I tried doing yesterday and today using Kies but before it can load on it says that there was a error when trying to load the firmware so it couldn't update.
Not sure what to do...
It's at version 4.0.4 if that helps

Maybe the firmware is corrupted?

I'm not familiar with International phones, but it's quite possible that it's trying to download the firmware that's specific to your country, but of course the phone is now in a different country than where it originated.
You should probably contact your carrier to see if something like that is going on; it may be as simple as getting a different SIM, or having them change something in their system. Good luck.
