Default control / schedule app updates?

I would like to have apps auto update only if I can set a time window & require Wi-Fi. Does anyone know how I can do this? My rresearch. Came up null.

I don't know of a way to set a time window, but if you got to settings / Data usage, and scroll down, you can set the Play Store to do background data only when connected to WiFi.
PLEASE, when asking for help provide as much information as possible. Otherwise, it's like calling your doctor and saying "My head hurts." Your doctor can't treat you unless he knows whether you have a headache or a concussion, and we can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they occurred.

If I've helped you, please press the Thanks button.

Lame answer. I, like the original poster, would like to be able to schedule automatic updates. Not just the 3G vs Wi-Fi setting currently available. And I don't want to disable data which would prevent other updates like email. I just want to stop app updates every single time I start to use the internet. Very annoying and intrusive.

If that's all you want to do, simply make the appropriate selection in the "Auto-update apps" settingscontrol / schedule app updates?-uploadfromtaptalk1368386070215.jpgYou can turn off auto-updates altogether, or only allow updates when you have a WiFi connection.
On the other hand, if what you want is to actually schedule updates at a particular time, or only when you're home and on WiFi, or only when the phone is docked, then you should invest in Tasker: - that will allow you to do pretty much anything you can think of.

Lame? And what have you contributed to the forum? We're not aware of a way to do what the OP asked, so we gave him the best option we know of. That's called trying to help, as distinct from your worthless waste of space which does nothing but whine and criticize. and since no one suggested disabling data in a way that would prevent emails from coming through, maybe you should learn to read for comprehension before you criticize others.

I'm not sure why I'm bothering to tell you this, since my advice is apparently useless, but you can prevent app updates every time you use the internet simply by not choosing automatic updating. Choose manual updating instead, and Google will notify you every now and then that you have updates available, and you can choose to install them when and if you want to.

Or is that too hard for you? Do you want the phone to read your mind, too? Maybe you can learn to program, and create an app to do this.
