SanDisk cops to malfunctioning Micro SDs in Galaxy S3s
Quote:
[The Register] asked SanDisk about this, and a spokesperson said:
SanDisk has been made aware of potential product issues involving a very small percentage of its 32GB and 64GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSD cards. Under certain circumstances the cards may lock up and the card becomes inaccessible. The issue has been identified and a manufacturing fix has already been put in place. SanDisk stands behind its products and any customer who experiences this issue with the microSD cards cards is asked to contact the SanDisk support center for a resolution immediately.

As I recall, SanDisk made changes a couple months ago.
They replaced one for me.

Re: SanDisk cops to malfunctioning Micro SDs in Galaxy S3s
Will we have to send the card back for a replacement? I bought a SanDisk 32 GB UHS-1 card from Amazon and it would also become corrupt while I listened to music so I just gave up and stopped using it. But I threw out all my packaging material and receipt.

So much for the S3 eating SD cards as a con! Less ammo for the Samsung detractors.

If I were Samsung I would be pissed that a lot of blame and "bad customer reviews" went their way. I personally have not experienced this on my S3 (Sandisk class 6), however I just bought a GoPro camera and none of my PC's will read a brand new Sandisk Ultra SDXC 64GB class 10 card. I have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out why it was not reading. Looks like a trip back to Fry's for a refund.

I sent them the card in a regular envelope, with the SD card inside a folded index card.
I talked to them on the phone, they e-mailed the RMA information. They did ask if there were files on the card that I needed. I told them no.
You will be required to READ everything on the SD card to them. That's to make sure it is returnable. Mine was an Ultra.
