What does "Safe Mode" mean?

I opened my S3 this morning and there is a Safe Mode note in lower left hand corner. Also, my 16GB micro SD card dropped off the world yesterday. Any connection? I've re-booted several times this morning, but the Safe Mode note is still there. There is no reference in my Que Book on the S3.

It is like safe mode on a computer , turns on your device with just the necessary functions so you can safely diagnose your device.

Try removing your sdcard leaving it out, try to restart see if that helps.
