Default number designation keeps going away

I go through my contacts and set the default number. The next day, the default designation is no longer there. So I set it again, and the blue check mark goes away again the next day. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this to happen? I like typing in a contact using the dialer, but the wrong number pops up because the default designation keeps going away.

I've never used that feature before, so I went in and enabled Default on one of my contacts, then restarted the phone. The default mark was still present after the restart. I'll check again tomorrow to see what happens.

It's only been 18 hours, but I just checked and the one contact still has the default number selected. I've rebooted the phone several times; shut it off completely once; not sure what else to do here. Sorry.
