Samsung galaxy s3 difficulties with screen

I recently dropped my samsung galaxy s3 and the screen is barely damaged, but the whole screen remains black and refuses to turn on. I have tried turning it on and off to no avail. The screen will not display anything, even though the device is on and the sound is working. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Sounds like either the backlight or the connection for the LCD got damaged. You'll probably have to bring it to a cellphone repair shop to see if they can fix it.
