Can you run an app from a flash drive? (OTG)

I ordered a "male micro-USB to female USB" OTG. I'll be saving my personal media files to the flash drive, and attaching it to the OTG whenever I need them. Will I be able to save a few apps and their data to the flash drive as well (like an SD card)?

I seriously doubt that - I don't think there's any provision in the OS for anything like that.
