Hi guys, been searching for hours trying to figure out if I can just pop in a TIM Sim card in when I get to Rome or if I need to root my gs3 and unlock it or try and call Verizon for an unlock code, my phone is still under contract till July 7th and I'll be back home by then, any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're on-contract with Verizon your phone is likely Carrier locked. But since you've had it for (presumably) almost 2 years you should be able to call Verizon and have them unlock it for you....once you do, then yes you'll be able to just pop in a new SIM card.

Your phone should be unlocked. All verizon LTE devices are unlocked. Its part of some FCC rule.
