Phone turns off and then on at random

The last few days I have noticed my phone turning off and then back on at random.Sometimes three times a day.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean the screen is waking up randomly? Does it coincide with any notifications? Could there be any magnets nearby that might be activating the smartcover sleep sensor, then waking the screen up when the magnet moves away from the phone? This kind of thing could happen with magnetic clasps from a purse, for example.

If your phone is rebooting completely it may be that the Power button (or the actual Power switch on the mainboard) is getting stuck. Let us know what the exact symptoms are and maybe we can suggest what to look at.

The phone can be sitting on the end table and will go thru a complete reboot at random. No other idications.

Are you rooted or running a custom ROM? Have you dropped your phone or has it come into contact with any liquid?

I am running with what ever it came with from AT&T. Hasn't been dropped or near water.

What kind of phone is it? The only other suggest I have is maybe the battery contacts are loose and the battery is loose so it powers off. That happened with an old Blackberry that I had.

It's a Galaxy S3 , I will check the tension of the battery contacts

Battery connections all look really good, plenty of tension and battery not loose at all in it's seat.

If you take the battery out and reinsert it, does the phone turn itself on (without you pressing the Power button)?

How often is this problem occurring (once-a-day; once-a-week; etc)?
