why can't i watch movies from my galaxy s3 on my tv when using a hdmi cable?

I have a Samsung tv and a sonny mist help sites say to use an Hsu adapter, video have one everything is hooked up correctly but i can't get anything onto my tv, is my tv just jot smart enough or do i need a new app?

Have you switched the TV to the correct video output channel? For example, HDMI. There shouldn't be anything else needed to display the phone screen onto the TV.

If that doesn't work, there are alternatives to cast onto the television. Chromcast+All Casts (app) is a good combination to cast, wirelessly, from your phone to television.
