Why won't my phone charge?

I got a Samsung Galaxy III mini for Christmas and has been working quite fine until now (End of May), My phone won't charge unless it is laying straight down (Screen facing upwards), I can't hold it or move it or else it will stop charging.. Every now and then it will tell me that my battery has been disconnected but I haven't touched the phone? Is this a problem that I can fix myself or will I need to bring it to the shops?

Try with another charging cable -- that cable may not be working properly.

The usb ports crack loose over time and cause poor or no charging.You need to have usb port resoldered or replaced.
