Why doesn't my Samsung Galaxy S3 sync with Google Contacts?

Samsung Galaxy S3 Does Not Sync With Google Contacts

Whenever I add a new contacts on my phone, they do not automatically get uploaded to gmail database. So, I try to sync my phone contacts to gmail by manually syncing the phone through settings. I do it with hopes that the new contacts on my phone would get uploaded to gmail database. Sometimes, it works. But sometimes, instead of the new contacts getting uploaded to the gmail database, what happens is, even the new contacts on my phone get erased because the new contacts are not in the gmail database and gmail apparently erases it. How do we get around this problem?

I can't say why but for quite a time I too have had a similar problem. I have found sometimes a phone restart works, and another time a Power Off then a Start Up works. Latterly when trying to resync everything through Accounts - Settings the Google one sets the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". Sorry this doesn't explain why but it might help.
