How can I fix my S3's recent periodic inability to open e-mails?

My S3 has recently started not opening e-mails from time to time. It shows the e-mail, including the first few words as preview, but when I click on the mail it goes into a perpetual loading cycle without ever opening the e-mail. This doesn't happen all the time but is becoming more frequent. I tried cleaning out some of the data but that didn't seem to make a difference. Any suggestions please?
