How to back up when phones broken?

So the other day I dropped my s4 and the screen shattered and I found out sooner that the lcd screen has stopped working so there is no way possible to see the screen or navigate the phone. While some pictures and such were on my sd card, a lot of things were on my phone and i was wondering how to back up the phone. When I connect to my computer it shows up but doesn't show any files on the phone. Anyone have any ideas?
