Mail / SD card problem after KitKat update

Hi all,

Last week I ran the KitKat update and I"m having two problems since than.
The biggest problem is that the update screwed up my SD card. All the data on that card seems lost. The card is also not recognized anymore by a PC.
The second problem is that the e-mail sync setting is ignored. This is for some mailboxes set to manually but the S4 mini doesn't care & is syncing continuously.

Anyone else with similar problems?

Welcome to Android Central! Although updates shouldn't mess up the external SD card, I've seen several mentions of this issue on the forums, so I typically recommend to people that they unmount the card and remove it prior to a system update.
