Please help -WiFi-texting-updating issues

I have just brought a galaxy s4 mini so far issues are
1. i have set it to my home WiFi but it will not update automatically it will wait till i am out of home range and use the mobile data to do a ton of updates and installs
2. Text messaging will not allow me to send photos from gallery in text message - says something to the effect of no WiFi data available please turn of mobile data even if i am at home and connected to my home WiFi - will also say the same thing when trying to send smiley face in text messages
3. Is asking me to download a message in my text messages but will not download even though i am connected to my home WiFi
had i had known this i would have stayed with my faithful and very few issue Nokia s

1) Texting is 2G, not wifi.

2) Make sure the MMS data in your APN is correct.

3) Last resort, bring it to the carrier's store and ask for assistance.
