phone refuses to stay on wifi

My buddy has an s4 mini on AT&T and just recently has had an issue with staying connected to the home WiFi. It will connect, then later on won't be connected and using data. I went into WiFi settings after this and says network unavailable, then connects immediately. Why is it doing this?

It sounds like something intermittent in the phone. (It could also be intermittent interference, like a microwave oven nearby.)
