    Default Screwed Up Root

Awhile back I attempted to "root" my ATT S4. After making this attempt at the time there was no root access and therefore whenever I boot my phone it says "custom" with the unlock. I wanted to try the new LG launcher but after the install I get a message that says it doesn't support rooted devices. Can I fully root the ATT S4? I keep reading yes and no? If so how can I fix the issue I am having and get root access back so I can flash a cool rom
